The V617 is the fourth generation of our 6x17 medium format camera lineup, representing the absolute best of everything we’ve learned so far. We took the simplicity of the F617, the focusing capabilities of the H617, and the bulletproof, light-tight robustness of the 617 Pro, and engineered them into a single, professional-grade powerhouse.
When designing the V617, our mission was clear: create a camera that is professional in performance, affordable in price, and incredibly easy to assemble—whether you buy it fully built or print it yourself.
Easy Back-Loading Design: No more loading from the top or bottom. The V617 features a fully opening back cover and spring-loaded film knobs. Loading 120 film in the field is now faster, smoother, and easier than ever.
Upgraded Ground Glass: For precise composition, the V617 features a lightweight, shatterproof plexiglass ground glass with a professional frosted finish.
Fresnel Lens: To improve corner-to-corner brightness during composition, the viewfinder is designed to house a custom Fresnel lens directly behind the ground glass.
Helical Focusing: Utilize the same ultra-smooth, robust zone-focusing helical system proven on our 617 Pro.
The Return of the DIY Download: By popular demand, the V617 is completely optimized for home 3D printing. The parts have been engineered from the ground up to be incredibly straightforward to print and assemble.

Note for DIY Builders: You can purchase the plexiglass ground glass and the optional Fresnel lens separately right here on our shop to complete your print or here is a short note on how to make a ground glass yourself! (Note: The Fresnel lens is completely optional but highly recommended for a brighter screen projection).
Lens Not Included: To keep costs low and give you ultimate flexibility, the V617 is a body-only camera. You will need to provide your own large-format lens and compatible lens cone/mount configuration to shoot.
F617: The original. Compact, fixed-focus, simple, and cheap.
H617: Introduced ground-glass focusing, but suffered from darkslide issues (Retired in 2024).
617 Pro: A massive, robust upgrade that eliminated all light leaks and introduced our helical focusing system, but was only available fully built.
V617 (Current): The ultimate evolution. Combines the professional, light-tight robustness of the Pro with a brand-new back-loading mechanism, an upgraded frosted ground glass system, and a return to our DIY-friendly download roots.
